Addressing chronic kidney disease

More than 29 million people in the U.S. have diabetes. Diabetes stands as the leading contributor to chronic kidney disease (CKD), with one in three diabetic adults affected. It’s also the number one cause of kidney failure. Alarmingly, 90% of individuals with CKD remain unaware that they have it, due to the disease’s asymptomatic nature in its early stages. 

Simple HealthKit’s initiative aims to mitigate this issue by offering at-home kidney health tests, potentially curbing the individual life and health burdens, as well as Medicare costs, associated with CKD and kidney failure.

What is the KED program?

Central to the KED program is the introduction of the Expanded Kidney Health Test, which assesses kidney function and kidney damage and is available for both in-clinic and at-home use.

The KED program comprises:

• Testing programs for use both in clinics and at home 
• Real-time data and analytics 
• Accredited labs in all 50 states to ensure quality and quick turnaround of results

By partnering with healthcare payers, stores, pharmacies, universities, employers, and public health entities, Simple HealthKit seeks to advance health equity, especially in underserved communities that are harder to reach.
