At the at the recent ViVE 2024 Conference on digital health tech, Simple HealthKit, an omnichannel healthcare platform that builds diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up care to address high-need health challenges, unveiled its latest initiative, the Kidney Health Evaluation for Patients with Diabetes (KED) program. More than 29 million people in the U.S. have diabetes. Diabetes stands as the leading contributor to chronic kidney disease (CKD), with one in three diabetic adults affected. It’s also the number one cause of kidney failure. Alarmingly, 90% of individuals with CKD remain unaware that they have it, due to the disease’s asymptomatic nature in its early stages.
Simple HealthKit’s initiative aims to mitigate this issue by offering at-home kidney health tests, potentially curbing the individual life and health burdens, as well as Medicare costs, associated with CKD and kidney failure.
Central to the KED program is the introduction of the Expanded Kidney Health Test, which assesses kidney function and kidney damage and is available for both in-clinic and at-home use.
